The Knowledge of God In this portion of scripture, which I entitle, The Knowledge of God, David rejoices in two fundamental qualities of the divine essence -God’s omnipresence and God’s omniscience. The first six verses of Psalm 139 explore what God knows about David, His omniscience, while introducing where God is in relation to David, His omnipresence.

The apostle Paul, one of the most important Christian leaders of the first century and probably the greatest Christian missionary in church history came under verbal attack from some of the very people he was helping to disciple.

As we reflect on Psalm 139:2a we’ll take a slightly different approach then we did in v.1. We’ll not make our primary interpretive lens the Hebrew of the Old Testament. Instead, well extend the meaning to include the glorious gospel of grace marvelously interwoven through its ancient pages. Verse one instructed us that God is indeed a personal God who has acquired His knowledge of us by way of proximity -an intentional nearness.
